Pirates of Penzance

Gilbert and Sullivan's operetta was a challenge for high-schoolers to sing, but the training and practice they got working with this music and the energetic staging and choreography helped develop the capacities of the drama program. Because the company was small, several actors were double-cast, so I made sure to visually distinguish the colorful and rambunctious pirates, the confection-like sweetness of the daughters, and the uniformity and awkwardness of the constabulary.
